I was diagnosed with PD about 7 years ago, right after suffering from a major stroke. I find my hardest task is using a wheelchair. I have lost my ability not to depend on others.

I don't know much about this disease and my dad lives in TX and I'm in MI and I'm just scared. He's already in a wheelchair and we have only known for just a little while. Last year this time, he was swimming and very active what happened??????????:P

I was just recently diagnosed with parkinsonism--gait instability. I responded immediately to Sinemet. I have not had any tremors. Did these start gradually or all at once. I have more mental problems. I call things the wrong name or forget altogether. The doc does not seem concerned about this and it has caused me to quite my job, which I loved. Any experience in that regard? It feels good to find a place I can let my fears out. Thank you for sharing.

I am scared too. My father (who is in his 80's) had the tremors and had the scans. The doctor said he thought it might be the start of PD. This was a couple of years ago. He has had continual check ups and medication. Lately he is becoming forgetful about things. Some information he remembers well, but other major information he forgets. Is this common for PD? I am scared. I realize he is older, but I want to do everything I can for him. I don't want to lose him.
